Vintage: An exceptional vintage with a long dry growing season, wonderful flowering and even ripening – very little disease pressure and a pleasure to watch the vines respond with little stress. The resulting fruit was sublime!
2024 model: With the colour of wild raspberries, this 2024 Pinot Noir is a blend of 3 vineyards from the reknown southern valleys, showing scented cherries, hints of doris plum, strawberries and brooding with black currants. Crushed violets and juicy red cherry fruits interplay with spice and a hint of vanilla oak notes. There is plenty of flavour, silken tannins and a pert finish delivering elegant alive energy and length.
Winemaking: Low yielding vines, on north facing sloped planted 20 years ago were handpicked and placed straight in to open top tanks, left to ferment on its own with gentle hand plunging and pressed off after 18 days on skins – then left to relax in French Oak to achieve malolactic fermentation over winter. The wine was then assembled, assessed and bottled unfined 7th November 2024.
