Exceptional handpicked fruit | heady mix of leather, tar, mint cassis & plum.
Gloriously complex & engaging on the nose showing crème de cassis, Black Doris plum, smoked game, cocoa & cedary oak characters with hints of tar and floral. The palate exhibits outstanding concentration & weight, together with graceful mouthfeel & refined texture, backed by chalky tannins, finishing immensely long & wonderfully structured.
WINEMAKING NOTES
A selection of 40% Gimblett Gravels Cabernet Sauvignon 40% Merlot & 20% Malbec. Destemmed berries from specially managed parcels are separately wild fermented in open top tanks hand plunged to manage temper-ature & extraction. After post ferment maceration, skins are pressed & some were recombined with free run before being barrelled down to spend the next 16 months in new French oak.
This label is reserved for wines from exceptional vintages. It is an undisclosed blend of red grape varieties. Medium-bodied, concentrated red with blackberry, raspberry, violet, spicy oak, and a suggestion of fresh herbs. Delicious now, better later – 95/100 Bob Campbell Real Review
